I graduated from North Dakota State University in 2011 with 2 Bachelor of the Arts Degrees in Psychology and Spanish. My GPA was 4.0. I studied abroad in Spain in the spring of 2010 and attended University of Malaga in Malaga, Spain. I attended a TESL certification course through Oxford Seminars, at Macalaster College in Minnesota to become certified to Teach English as a Second Language. I attended Celas Maya Spanish School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and completed 300 hours of one-on-one Spanish language study.

Experience

I have previously tutored Guatemalan students in English as a second language. My ACT score is 31. I am a 2007 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. At University I was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the National Honor Society of Psychology. I earned the Green and Golden Globe Diversity Award from the Office of International Programs in 2011. I enjoy tutoring students because I have enjoyed being challenged academically and believe I can pass on effective study habits and motivation to others. As a successful student myself, I understand different learning styles as well as teaching styles. Perseverance in academics is rewarding and character-building and I look forward to encouraging and appreciating my students' efforts.

Hobbies

Hobbies of mine include reading (any genre!), writing letters, cooking and baking, creating recipes, watching documentary films, speaking Spanish, watching Spanish TV and films and listening to Spanish radio, listening to music, Yoga, meditation, travel and taking photos. Some of my interests are Guatemalan culture and politics, holistic health and nutrition, sociology, psychology, midwifery, and reflexology.
