Experience

I currently work as a tutor part-time for middle and high school ESL students in Bellevue. Patient and dedicated teachers have made a huge difference in my life! One result of this was that I became interested in helping other students excel in and enjoy their studies, especially if they are currently struggling. My approach to tutoring is collaborative, flexible, and empathetic. I have confidence that any student can learn whatever they want to learn. It is a matter of putting in the time, having enough support, and discovering how you learn best. Besides my current position, which I have been in since September of this year, I have experience as a volunteer tutor in public schools in Seattle. I tutored students one-on-one and in small groups in subjects including English (writing, reading, and grammar), social studies, math, and science. I am open to tutoring students in math up to trigonometry. I am comfortable working with students who are native or non-native speakers of English and have experience tutoring both. I am also able to tutor students of any age. I have experience working with students from 1st grade to adults. During this time, I am only meeting with students online. If you have a preferred online meeting platform let me know, I am familiar with Zoom, Skype, and Google Meet. I also use Google Classroom to share materials and any assignments. (HW is optional, and the decision to take it or not is up to individual students and their parents. However, I find that students usually make quicker progress with a little homework each week.) Please reach out if you are interested in a trial lesson or have any questions! I am happy to talk about logistics, tutoring methods, materials/resources, or anything else you may have questions about.
